Mmmmmmmminis, how I love thee!







Here are the coloured tiles I decided to make sprinkles out of, because rolling clay that thin is difficult. Even the balls were tricky to make and they still look too big to my pedantically mini-mad eye. I also made some teeny little hearts for a valentine day spree, no doubt a-comin', and some chocolate bars, just cuz.



To get sprinkles I cut small slices off the tiles, chopped them into bits, then literally split hairs to get them small enough. I'm not sure how they'll work out yet, but here's what I have to work with.



I'm planning on making more cupcakes and donuts!



I also made these resin pendants for my friends. The process was hampered by my wanting them to be double sided. I made a lot of mistakes trying to perfect the technique. The tarot card pendants scattered around came out with the sides not perfect because the resin shrinks when curing, and leaves sharp edges which look opaque after sanding, so MEH, impefect specimens that take an age to scrape and buff into passable keyrings or something. More pics of the pendants when I've drilled and threaded them onto string.

That is some dedication!

Do you think colored sand might make plausible scale sprinkles? It would be smaller than anything one could get with Fimo, I think, and look a bit like the transparent kind of sprinkles.

I'm just struggling with sprinkles right now (quickly getting on my computer for reference images of donut patterns and seeing your email) and that's a really good idea! THANKS. I'll take a note and keep an eye out for some of that, and see if Wilkinsons (I'm in the UK) has some in the pet or garden section. I'm using pinhead sized amounts of fimo and splitting it in two and it's so small it smears away into my skin if I'm not careful. It's so fiddly and then not uniform at mini scale. BOO! So hard to make things convincing. I don't know how people work at 24th or even 68th scale! *boggles*

I know in the U.S. for a while there was a kind of fad for...sand crafts? Like colored sand that you fill jars with in patterns? I dunno if it made it over there (or if it's even still around here), but you could get packs of assorted colors of sand in small quantities at craft stores here. I would love to see how it looks if you try it!

I don't know how people work at 24th or even 68th scale!

I'm guessing they probably do not try to make cupcakes with sprinkles. :-P

And true about the smaller scales not doing teeny sprinkles. Flea turd would be bigger than that!
